(a) First, calculate the volume of the tank in litres, which is the volume filled by A in 5 min. This volume divided by 5 will be the amount flowing from A per min.

(b) The volume flowing from A per min minus the volume drained by B per min (method to find amount drained by B per min is similar to part (a)) tells us how much is filled per min.
Now that we know the rate per min and the volume needed to fill, we can find the time taken.
It is similar to the thinking for speed, where time = distance/speed.
