Math teachers, do we need working for this type of question? we kind of know that if distance is the same, the speed will be 3:4 (S:G) and time will be 3:4 (G:S).

Hi, would appreciate your guidance to this P4 question:Joni had thrice as much money as Glen at first. They each spent $45 on a haversack bag. In the end, Joni had 8 times as much money left as Glen. How much more money did Joni have than Glen?Many thanks!

Initial ratio= 3:1 = 21:7 Final ratio = 8:1 =16:2 Hence, 5 units --> $45 1 unit --> $9 Joni has 14 units more than Glen. 14 units --> $126.

Sorry, could you explain why the ratio is changed to 21:7 and 16:2 respectively? And how do we get 14 units?

If the difference is 14u, then we need to multiply the 'before' ratio of 3:1 with 7 to become 21:7 (difference 14u) and the 'after' ratio of 8:1 with 2 to become16:2 (difference 14u)

Appreciate your help with this P5 question:Alan bought some chocolates and gave half of it to Ben. Ben bought some sweets and gave half of it to Alan. Alan ate 12 sweets and Ben ate 18 chocolates. The ratio of Alan's sweets to chocolates became 1 : 7 and the ratio of Ben's sweets to chocolates become 1 : 4. How many sweets did Ben buy?
