Alternative way to approach the question: Since the number of fruits at the start is equal and then there is a difference of 8 fruits sold which resulted in the ratio 2 : 5, we can conclude that 2 units = 8 fruits.

90 - 5u are the number of women's still left in auditorium. And this is 5/9 of the total women. To find out what is the 4/9 who ledt the auditorium, u use (90-5u)*(9/5)*(4/9)= (90-5u)*(4/5) = 72-4u
