Hi Kim Soon where and how do you get 116 and 117
6 years ago
Jason Oon
Think for part b, what Kim Soon Chin wrote meant for is that for example:
1 + 233 = 234
2 + 232 = 234
....
Till 116 + 118 = 234
Hence there will be 116 groups of 234 and 117 will left behind in the middle, therefore explaining his equation.

No problem. Both of us showed the same so that confirms that this is the easiest to present.

Working backwards, we start by drawing the 'bars for the after' situation such that Tim and Brendan have equal number left. So since Tim has 3/4 left (3 units), Brendan also has 3 units left. Then we add the quantities that were given to Sally so that we can represent the total of 128. From there we look for how many units to equate to a quantity (7 units = 91).
