Unshaded area ratio of B:C = 10:1
Full area rato of B:C = 2:1
We want to change this full ratio to a new ratio, say p:q, such that p-10 = q-1

2:1 = 4:2 = 6:3 = ... = 18:9

Zhong Shu Hao
Hence,
Full ratio = 18:9
Unshaded ratio = 10:1
Shaded area = 8 units
8 units --> 104cm^2
1 unit --> 13 cm^2
Area of B = 18 units.
Area of A = 21 units
Area of A that is not covered by B = 3 units
= 3 x 13cm^2
= 39cm^2.

Finding area of C. note that the shaded square is also a part of square C!

Zhong Shu Hao
And finally.... Area of A

Zhong Shu Hao
Now.... find the total sum of non shaded area.

Zhong Shu Hao: hi for finding C ... how u did you total units as 8 ... could u explain pls
6 years ago
Zhong Shu Hao
because ratio of B:C is 5:4. Since area of B is 10u, area of C will 8u.

oh i get it now ... okay thanks

Zhong Shu Hao
btw... area of A can be found more simply by just multiplying the area of B by 2.
