Try with guess and check. Ask yourself, how many $5 notes can you exchange with how many $2 notes (ie. Using Lowest Common Multiple)

Your questions are similar to one of those posted yesterday (see photo). See if you can use that problem and the solution given to help you... The idea is that because the same amount is to be taken away from both bars, we can do that from the left hand side of the bars.

in $4.10, the max amount of 50-cent coins in 8, which gives you $4.00. However, the remaining $0.10 cant be from 20-cent coins... So we decrease the number of 50-cent coins by 1 first, causing the total values of the 50-cent coins be $3.50. This will cause a remainder of $0.60, which can be obtained from 3 20-cent coins. Hence, the smallest number of 20-cent coins Aaron has is 3.

Listing 20 cts x 2. = 40 cts 50cts x 7. = $3.50. Total $3.90. X 20 cts x 3 = 60 cts. 50 cts x 7 = $3.50 total = $4.10. ✔️ So answer is 3 20 cents
