I suspect this question is flawed. The area should be 90cm^2, not 94cm^2. Else, the similarity property of triangles GBK to GAE (length ratio = 2:3 & area ratio ratio = 4:9) will not hold. Based on 90cm^2, area = 90 - 2×13.5 + 2×6 = 75cm^2

You're right, Raymond Ng. I just checked it too. Geometrically, the rectangle can't be 94 cm2 if the area of KGB is 6 cm2 -- should be 90 cm2.

Posting this to encourage us as we help our children in their learning. It's a P4 question. The child came out with the model drawings fairly quickly but he couldn't see the relationship between the 2 centres (from the drawings) immediately. I decided not to help him and left it for him to figure it out on his own. He took about half hour. Tried trial and error and various methods but when he finally saw the relationship, he was elated. There was a sense of accomplishment. I think it really helps to give our children time and space to think and ponder and try instead of going to their rescue too quickly. My 2 cents. (Please pardon the messy handwriting)
