If June is 5kg heavier than the average of her friends, we can say that the total mass is
5units + 5kg = 43kg x 5
1 unit + 1kg = 43kg
1 unit = 42kg
Mass of June =42kg + 5kg
= 47kg.

5x43kg=215kg
215kg-5kg=210kg
210kg/5=42kg
Mass of June = 42+5=47kg
Assume 1 side is 2 units
Half=1 u
Quarter=0.5 u
Figure P : 24 u=240 cm
1 u= 10 cm
Figure Q: 20 u= 200 cm

Sorry, but you cant assume it is 1/4 of a side of a sqr in figP

I think this would be a better method:
Realise that the sum of ALL the horizontal lines in Figure P is equals to the sum of 6 sides of the squares. The sum of ALL the vertical lines in Fig P is equals to sum of length of 6 sides too. Hence,
12 sides = 240cm
1 side = 20cm
Now for Fig Q. Notice that the sum of ALL vertical lines is equals to 6 sides, while sum of ALL horizontal sided is equals to 4 sides of a square. Thus,
Perimeter of Fig Q = 10 sides
=10 x 20cm
=200cm

This is my picture, sorry I use incorrect terms to explain.

I mean... how did you know how the squares are put. Maybe the length of the two bottom sides in the middle layer is 1.35cm and 0.65 cm?

After Siti gave away w pears, she had 3w pears left.
Take away 1 pear since she ate that, she had (3w - 1) pears left.
Her brother ate half of what remained = (3w -1)/2.
Hence, she had (3w -1)/2 left
