Their difference is 2 units. They reach equal amount with one decreasing and another increasing. Hence, 2 units = 27+5=32 1 unit = 32Γ·2=16 Should be able to carry on from here.

In order to have EQUAL units after Paul has saved $27 more n Smith spent $5, Paul has to add "certain units" n Smith has to cut "certain units". Both "certain units" = 2 units since Smith has 2 more units than Paul. 2 units = $32 Hope it helps you how to start n to draw the models. :)

This model drawing method is very important. Primary sch Maths uses this method from now onwards. You will see more when they go higher level.

1st evening: women = 100 units men = 100 units + 70 2nd evening: women = 100u + 20u = 120 u men = 90u + 63 (since decreased by 10%, remaining would be 90% of 100u and 90% of 70) Hope the guided steps help. :)

This is a good question. Set within the syllabus and not convoluted.

It's good cos it tests on the concept without getting into 'parts' and 'units' which conceptually is beyond requirement.

Hi, need some help. Is there any ways of doing this other than guessing the numbers to get the answer? Thank you in advance.

The 1st one. Which number adds to itself 3 times, and the 2nd digit returned is itself? 4+4+4=X2, 6+6+6=X6, so it will be 5+5+5=X5. S=5, I=1.

on the 3rd one. Which number multiplies itself and returns the 2nd digit as itself? 7x7=X9, 5x5=X5. This can be the answer, but 5 is already taken by S. So use 6x6=X6, A=3, T=6.

Hi Caleb Tey, thanks for your help. I haf a better understanding now!

on the 2nd, if a double digit number + a single digit number, the maximum that the new number can increase is by 1, in the tens placing. As such, we can establish that O-1=N. Since O+O=XN, O can only be 9, since 9+9=x8. So O=9, N=8.
