Two ways of solving this question. 1) try n error 2) using division n remainder. 23 divided by the number of boxes (7), u will get 3 remainder 2. The extra 2 put into two of the boxes to become big box. So 5 small boxes n 2 big boxes.

What about assumption method.. Is it taught in pr2 ?

Zhong Shu Hao
assumption is usually not taught in schools, except for math olympiad. Because assumption method may be hard to understand, but it can also be easily learned by anyone if observant enough.

My P2 girl was taught the assumption method since P1.

Yup, the teacher is....she even told the girls to memorise as it will be applicable for PSLE ! Luckily, my girl could absorb.
