Because qn stated 3/7 (B) = 2/3 (R)
Common multiple of 2 n 3 (for both numerators) is 6.

Can explain why 5units = 40
BA Poh Ann
Qn stated "There were 40 more blue balloons than red ones".
Since Blue had 14 units n red had 9 units, therefore between 14 units and 9 units is 5 units which is equal to 40.

Is this by guess and check or there is some more sophisticated way of solving by ratio method?

The difference between their ages remains constant no matter what the ratios are -- 29.
Drawing models of 1 unit and 2 units to represent their ages, the difference in terms of units is 1.
So, 1 unit = 29, her father's age is 2 units which is 58 years.

Step 1: we identify the smallest unit which is C. Step 2: We express A and B relative to C Step 3: We fit them into the given data, in this case A+B+C = 135
