May I ask why is 1u + 200 +144? This is the part which I am confused with.

Kate (after) is 1u + 200. And when you work backwards, you have to add 144 to get Kate(at first).

A:D = 2:3
A:(B+C) = 1:2 = 2:4
Therefore, (B+C):D = 4:3
C:(B+D) = 1:3
To make the total units of B+C+D to be equal,
(B+C):D = 16:12
C:(B+D) = 7:21
Therefore, B:C:D = 9:7:12
Since A:(B+C) = 1:2 and (B+C)=16
A:B:C:D = 8:9:7:12 (ans)
