Pattern seems to be +100, -150, +100, -150.

A: +100 -150 sequence hence last 2 numbers are 650 and 750 B: +100 -50 sequence starting from 650 C: +100 -50 sequence starting from 800 That makes 3 sets, however I'm not sure if B and C is considered 2 different sets as the patterns are the same except placing of numbers.

Looks at +100, - 150, +100, - 150

After you have gotten the numbers for the 2 cards which are 650 and 750, I think you can then rearrange the cards to firm 2 other patterns. I think that's what the problem is trying to suggest.

Tan Weiqiang

Ahh.... In that case the question could have been phrased a little differently.. Ie- (a) what are the two missing numbers in this pattern (b) form another pattern with all the 6 numbers.

Precisely Tan Weiqiang, sometimes when qn are clear, it leads to much confusion.

2 answers accepted by my girl's teacher. Not sure if we can re-arrange the numbers to get the below 3rd pattern

Sherri Chuah

Third one incorrect?

3rd pattern suggested by my son. But younger sister confused whether she is allowed to re-arrange the numbers.

One more pattern. Is it correct?

Mayuree Thongpan

I noticed that if we put 700 and 800 in the middle of pattern then we can rearrange the numbers easier.

4/5 of the fruits were apples. That makes 4 units for apples. Half of the apples were red so that makes 1/2 of the 4 units = 2 units red apples. Compare the 2 units to the whole.. You'll get fraction of 2/5

P4

Tan Weiqiang

yeap...you'll see this question in P5 and 6 as well. :)

Edlynn Rose

Yes, typically a P4 question but the denominator never goes beyond 12. Also, this is a typical type of question that can be solved either by unitary or ratio and the uniqueness of this type of question: before-and-after involving only ONE ITEM that changes.
