(18+g+p)/(g+30+p)=11/13 -----equation 1 18+g+16=p------------------------------equation 2 Simplify equation 2 34+g=p------------------------------------equation 3 Substitute p from equation 3 into equation 1 (18+g+34+g)13 = ( g+30+34+g)11 52×13 + 2g×13 = 64×11+2g×11 2g(13-11)=64×11-52×13 g = (64×11-52×13)/4 g = 28/4 = 7 Number of marbles in box B = g+30+p = 7+30+34+7= 78 Number of green marbles in box A = 18+g = 25 *How to check * equation 3: 34+g =p, so p= 41 Check if p= 41 and g = 7 is also true for equation, equation 1: (25+41)/(7+30+41)=(66/78)=6(11)/6(13) =11/13, so equation 1 is true. Since p=41 and g= 7 satisfy both equation, answer is checked to be correct.
